About the Blog(ger)

Hello friends! My name is Vikram Batra and I am currently pursuing my MBA Finance from Department Of Finance, University Of Delhi. Capital markets is my bread and butter. I started following the stock markets back in 2011. After a few months, I started off by trading/investing on virtual money trading platforms like moneybhai, icici direct etc. It was
only in May 2013 when I took my first trade, 5 shares of Maruti Suzuki at the rate of Rs. 1670 per share :D (CMP 5600).

I spent about few 6 months trading/ investing in all sorts of scrips - large, midcaps, small and of course the not so very liquid lottery stocks. I was no different from any novice trade who enters the market with the dream of making it big. And as many traders, it didn't take more than 6 months for me to wipe off my entire trading capital. The process repeated itself over the next 6 months and I was stranded with negligible balance in my trading account once again.

Time for introspection. "I am a finance student, how come I am no different than 90% of the traders who lose money in the market", a question I asked myself. What was the the point of knowing finance concepts when you could not apply them? Was I using my finance knowledge in anyway? Or did I have any sort of technical knowledge of reading charts or understanding price volume action? The answer was a plain & simple NO.

The next 6 months was time to derive a trading plan. I spent a few hours weekly to read and understand basics of technical analysis. I would learn couple of concepts in a week and try applying them to my trades. The plan was straight forward; take a trade only if the plan applies. Let the trade come to you, rather than running after it. Since mid of 2015, I have been majorly trading in Nifty and Bank Nifty Futures and Options.

By way of this blog, I intend to write about my views/opinions on major indices, stocks, bond market, commodities and the economy as a whole. The views may be technical or fundamental. I hope its a learning experience for me as well as for those who always wanted a better way of trading in the capital markets!

Cheers!
